Minimal Impact to Northern Haiti from

Hurricane Matthew

Thank you to our friends and supporters for reaching out over the last several days to check on the impact of Hurricane Matthew on Haitian Christian Ministries and our partners Welcome Home Haiti and Emmaus Biblical Seminary. The northern part of Haiti was spared the brunt of the hurricane and other than some moderate rain, saw no impact.

As you can see from the photo shown here, the south and southwestern portions of Haiti were not so fortunate. Hundreds have lost their lives and thousands are now homeless. There are also reports of cholera outbreaks due to stagnant water. Please be in constant prayer for all of Haiti.

The HCM Board will be meeting the weekend of October 14th in Rolla, MO. During the meeting they will be discussing the impacts of Hurricane Matthew to Haiti. The board will also be discussing ideas of how to partner with established ministries that operate in the impacted areas in southwest Haiti. Please pray for wisdom and discernment for the board.

Partnership with Emmaus

Biblical Seminary Continues

to Bear Fruit

In August we announced a new partnership with Emmaus Biblical Seminary to support church planting efforts in Northern Haiti to share the Gospel with the unreached. Just two weeks ago, HCM partnered with EBS to provide a well to the Fev community, where the church plant has seen over 120 Haitians give their lives to Christ.

In November, Pastor Walnique Cadet of the Fev Church will be hosting a Family Conference Team from Eastview Christian Church for a one day VBS at Fev.

Lory Multipurpose Building Moving Towards Fundraising Goal

In the last issue of the newsletter, we announced a capital campaign to build a multipurpose building at the Lory church. The building would be designed in such a way as to allow medical teams to visit the Lory church for multiple days and run a true clinic while there. This building will serve additional needs for the Lory church and their ministry to the local community as well

God continues to bless this project and in just one month funding has been provided for over two thirds of the estimated cost. If you would like to be a part of this effort, please contact Rick White or Tom Moss using their information on the previous page.

Child Sponsorship Update

It is October so that means the school in Pillatre has been open for about one month for the school year. Enrollment at the school this year stands at 1,525 students. In a few short days, a team from the USA will travel to Haiti to take photos of the school children. While there are more children sponsored than ever before, there are still 390 children in need of a sponsor. Your $30 per month helps pay for a child’s education, a hot meal every day, and access to a free medical care through the clinic.

To sponsor a child, please contact our Child Sponsorship Director Donna McCall using the information on the first page of the newsletter. We will have a field report from Donna in the next issue. Additionally, we are looking for Child Sponsorship Ambassadors to work with their family, friends and coworkers to find sponsors for five children. Please contact Donna or Tom if you would like to be a part of this program.
